FC Barcelona’s Uruguay international defender Ronald Araujo will be out of action for around a month after suffering a hamstring injury.

The club’s website confirmed the news on Thursday, informing that Araujo “has injured the femoral biceps in the hamstring of his left leg and will be unavailable for selection until the injury clears up.”

Araujo will be sidelined for at least a month due to this type of injury and his history of muscular issues, according to Xinhua, even if the club did not provide a return date.

He will also be absent from Sunday’s home match against Cadiz, as well as the challenging trips to Villarreal on August 27 and Osasuna the following week.

The team is anticipating his availability for both the start of the Champions League group stage the following week as well as a home game against Real Betis on September 17th.

Due to Marcos Alonso and Inigo Martinez’s pending inclusion for Financial Fair Play reasons, Sergi Roberto, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen, Eric Garcia, and Alejandro Balde are the only defenders now listed in Barcelona’s first-team roster as a result of the injury.

Martinez has been dealing with a foot problem all summer, but on Thursday he participated in some of the first team’s practise.
