FC Barcelona is set to face Real Madrid in the Spanish Supercup final on Sunday, securing their spot after a 2-0 victory over Osasuna in the second semifinal. Second-half goals from Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal paved the way for a thrilling clash in the upcoming ‘Clasico.’
Despite a less-than-brilliant performance, Barcelona managed to create more chances than their rivals in a match that will undoubtedly please TV rights holders and organizers. The victory follows Real Madrid’s 5-3 triumph over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, setting the stage for an intense showdown.
The first half witnessed a furious pace, with chances on both ends. Jose Arnaiz nearly set up Ante Budimir for Osasuna, while Ferran Torres’s shot narrowly missed the target for Barcelona. Osasuna’s Jesus Areso and Barcelona’s Lewandowski also had attempts on goal in the opening 15 minutes.
Barcelona gradually took control of possession but struggled to break down Osasuna’s well-organized defense. Lewandowski had a header wide from a corner, and a chance on the stroke of halftime was blocked by Osasuna’s keeper Sergio Herrera after a quick break initiated by Yamal replacing the injured Raphinha.
The second half continued similarly, and Barcelona took the lead through Lewandowski after a well-timed through ball from Ilkay Gundogan. Despite Raul Garcia’s close attempt for Osasuna, Joao Felix’s run set up Yamal for Barcelona’s second goal, beating Herrera.
With this result, Barcelona secures a spot in the Spanish Supercup final, where they will face arch-rivals Real Madrid in a highly anticipated ‘Clasico’ encounter.
