Barcelona’s last-minute signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang appears to be paying off after the striker scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win over Valencia. Aubameyang scored his first Barcelona goals on his complete La Liga debut, after coming off the bench in the second half in previous league matches against Atletico Madrid and Espanyol. The former Arsenal striker, who last scored in the Gunners’ 3-1 win over Aston Villa in October, now has 10 goals for the season.
Aubameyang’s first goal came in the 23rd minute when he calmly struck the top corner in a one-on-one scenario, and his second came from close range in the 38th minute to make it 3-0 after Frenkie de Jong scored for Barcelona. Pedri was initially credited with Barcelona’s fourth goal, but when the referee delivered his match report following the game, he changed it to Aubameyang since Pedri’s effort was deflected off the striker’s back on its way in.
