BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the home series against Australia and South Africa. The T20I bilateral series against Australia will commence on the 20th of September. The three-match series will continue with the second game on the 23rd, and the final game on the 25th of September.
Senior players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli are all available for the home series against both Australia and South Africa. The T20I face-off against these teams ahead of the World Cup will pose a great chance to gauge their strength and prepare accordingly. Moreover, it’ll be good to be in the momentum by participating in the matches.
Mohammad Shami has finally made it into the T20 side days after an online uproar. Shami delivered an impressive performance in the IPL for Gujarat Titans. Fans and the members of the fraternity questioned the board’s ignorance of Shami for the Asia Cup in absence of Bumrah. However, Shami has now made it into the squad for the shortest format. Moreover, he will also accompany the T20 World Cup squad as a stand-by along with Deepak Chahar.
However, Hardik Pandya will not take part in the series against South Africa along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Similarly, Arshdeep Singh will miss out on the series against Australia. These three will go through “conditioning-related work” according to the announcement by BCCI.
“Note: Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will be reporting to the NCA for conditioning-related work during the course of the home series against Australia and South Africa,” the board informed.

The T20I home series against South Africa will start on the 28th of September. The second and final matches are scheduled on the 2nd and 4th of October respectively. Following the T20 face-off, both teams will face other in an ODI series too. The ODI series will start with the first match on the 6th of October. The second and third match, moreover, will be played on the 9th and 11th of October.
BCCI is yet to confirm the ODI squad as of now. However, the latest reports suggest that Shikhar Dhawan will lead the ODI side. According to the buzz, the members of the T20 World Cup squad are likely to miss out on the ODI series to focus on the ICC championship solely. Moreover, the likes of Shubman Gill, Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson, and more will join in the series in the absence of Rohit Sharma and others.
