Indian former cricketer VVS Laxman has been appointed as interim head coach of Indian cricket team for the Asia Cup 2022. The BCCI made this decision on Wednesday, 24th August ahead of the start of the tournament after India’s full-time coach Rahul Dravid was tested positive for COVID-19. Asia Cup will be starting from 27th of August and India will be up against Pakistan in their first game of the tournament (on 28th August).
VVS Laxman has done a great job as a coach in the Indian team after IPL 2022. Indian cricket team played so many matches after IPl 2022 and they also won so many series. VVS Laxman was named as the Indian Coach in some of this series. Before Indian first team went to England, India had a two-match T20Is against Ireland. In this series, India’s second team was under VVS Laxman’s coaching as full-time coach Rahul Dravid was with the first team to prepare for England’s series.
VVS Laxman was also named coach of the team when India went Zimbabwe lately. India clean swept Zimbabwe in this series as well. Thus looking at all this, BCCI decided to make VVS Laxman interim head coach of India until Rahul Dravid recovers from COVID-19.
