BCCI grants chief selector Ajit Agarkar a contract extension until this date after the T20 World Cup 2024, Champions Trophy 2025 victories in his tenure. Ajit Agarkar, Chairman of the men’s senior selection committee, will remain in his position until June 2026. One of the selectors can stay for a maximum period of five years.

Suryakumar Yadav was appointed T20I captain while Shubman Gill captained the team in Tests. Suryakumar will now captain India in the T20 Asia Cup 2025, his first big tournament as T20I captain. Gill asserted himself in his debut Test series, with a 2-2 draw on English soil and 754 runs to his credit.
Likely shift in selection committee next month
The men’s selection panel comprises Agarkar, SS Das, Subroto Banerjee, Ajay Ratra and S Sharath. The report further states that at the meeting in September that will be attended by the annual general body, changes can be implemented in the committee.
Sharath is expected to be replaced by a new face. Following the meeting, the BCCI will invite applications for the post of selector. There is doubt whether Das and Banerjee will stay on in the selection committee. Alteration in women’s selection committee as well

Senior women and junior men selection committees will also change. Senior women selection committee consisting of Neetu David, Arati Vaidya and Mithu Mukherjee completed five years. According to board’s rules and regulations, a member can retain his/her position for five years. BCCI will call application for the women’s selection committee as well.
