India and Sri Lanka to Co-Host T20 World Cup 2026: Cricket fans are in for a treat next year as India and Sri Lanka gear up to co-host the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. According to NDTV sources, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has sent a proposed schedule for the event to the ICC, with the tournament likely to take place between March and April.

T20 World Cup 2026: Pakistan Matches to Be Held in Sri Lanka

Just like the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup, the Pakistan cricket team won’t be traveling to India due to ongoing political tensions. Instead, they’ll play all their matches in Sri Lanka. The ICC is reportedly finalizing one Sri Lankan city where all of Pakistan’s fixtures will be held.

Five Indian Cities Proposed for the T20 World Cup 2026

The BCCI has put forward a plan featuring five major cities to host the matches in India, all expected to be Tier 1 venues. Among them, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is likely to host the final. The stadium has already proven itself on the world stage, having hosted several IPL finals and the 2023 Men’s ODI World Cup final.

ICC Sanctions on Players After Asia Cup Controversy

In other cricket news, the ICC recently handed down penalties to Indian and Pakistani players following controversial gestures during the Asia Cup clashes between the two sides in September. The hearings were led by members of the ICC’s elite panel of match referees after reviewing incidents from the India vs Pakistan games held on September 14, 21, and 28.

Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav was fined 30 percent of his match fee for his “Pahalgam tribute” comments made during the group stage match on September 14.

On the Pakistan side, Haris Rauf faced a harsher punishment, while Sahibzada Farhan received a warning. Rauf was fined 30 percent of his match fee and suspended for his provocative gestures during the Super Four match and the final against India. During one of the games, he made a controversial “6-0” gesture toward Indian fans and mimicked a plane falling from the air. Farhan also performed a “gunshot” celebration during the Super Four match.

With the excitement building for the 2026 T20 World Cup, cricket enthusiasts can expect high-intensity action, packed stadiums, and plenty of drama — both on and off the field.
