BCCI Increases Match Fees For Women’s Domestic Season

As an important move towards equal pay, the BCCI has decided to raise the match fees of women’s domestic cricket players. The new pay scale makes the revenues of women cricketers almost equal to those of the men cricketers.

This is an important sign of the development of women’s cricket. The decision has been cleared by the BCCI Apex Council in a virtual meeting conducted on Monday, the 22nd of December.

Revised Match Fees for Senior Women Cricketers

Under the new format, the top women players are likely to experience a significant rise in their earnings:

One-Day & Multi-Day Matches

Playing XI: INR 50,000 per day

Non-playing participant: INR 25,000 per match

T20 Matches

Playing XI: Rs. 25,000 Per match

Reserves: INR 12,500 per

Previously, senior women players in the playing XI used to get INR 20,000 per match, whereas other members not playing got INR 10,000. The amount has been more than doubled now.

Pay Hike for Junior Women’s Domestic Cricket

Meanwhile, the BCCI has also revised the payments for junior women’s domestic tournaments to make sure that the financial support at the grassroots level is better:

One-Day & Multi-Day Matches

Playing XI: INR 25,000 per day

Reserves: INR 12,500 per day

T20 Matches

Playing XI: 12500 per match

Non-playing members: INR 6,250 per match

The move is likely to push more youngsters towards taking up cricket as a profession.

Sharp Increase in Seasonal Earnings

A senior woman cricketer was earning an average of close to INR 2 lakh per season, assuming the team played only league-stage matches according to a BCCI note. The seasonal earnings from women’s domestic cricket will now see a manifold increase with the revised match fees to ensure better monetary rewards and encouragement.

New Salary Scale for Umpires

In addition to the pay rise for the players, the BCCI also approved an increase in the match fees for domestic umpires:

League Matches: INR 40,000 per day (same for all umpires)

K.O Matches: Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000, depending on tournament importance & match importance

The adjustment seeks to pay nod to the additional pressure that comes with knock-out matches, while Reinforcing performance-related reward mechanisms.

Referees to Get Equal Pay Benefits

This new salary structure shall also apply to match referees so that there will be harmony among officials:

League Matches: Inr 40,000/Day

Knockout Matches: INR 50,000 to INR 60,000 per

The decision will see a total of 79 match referees benefit, ensuring a high level of consistency in domestic cricket.
