Virat Kohli in his latest media interaction talked at length about how he faced criticism and numerous opinions during his recent struggle with form. The former captain’s bat has been silent for quite some time and the phase brought many revelations to light. Earlier at the end of 2021, BCCI sacked Kohli as the ODI captain. The stated reason told that they won’t keep different captains for two white-ball formats after Kohli’s retirement as the T20 captain.
Soon enough in January 2022, Kohli turned in his resignation as the red ball skipper too. The sudden captaincy dethroning urged people to sense tension between Kohli and BCCI. And now in his recent statement, Kohli expressed how no one from the management, team, or the fraternity messaged him after the test captaincy retirement apart from MS Dhoni.
Virat in his statement said, “One thing I can tell you is when I gave up Test captaincy, I got a message from only one person who I’ve played with before – MS Dhoni.” “A lot of people have my number and a lot of people give suggestions on TV, but among people who have my number, I didn’t get a message from anyone else,” he had added.

The statement trended on the internet in due time, once again highlighting the disbalance between the board and Kohli. Many alleged that the board’s mistreatment of Kohli led to mental pressure on the batter. Mental pressure, about which Kohli has opened up in the recent past.
However, an undisclosed BCCI official has now retaliated to the statement and the resulting speculations. The official rubbished the statement, saying it’s not right on Virat’s part to allege that no one supported him. Moreover, he told how everyone posted wishes for him when he left test captaincy behind.
“Virat has had the backing of everyone. From his teammates to everyone at the BCCI. To say that he did not get the support is not true. He was granted a break to rejuvenate, he got frequent rest. Even everyone at BCCI wished him on social media when he stepped down from Test captaincy. So, I don’t know what he is talking about,” the official told in his counter statement to Virat Kohli.
