Indian team as a unit has made a remarkable comeback into this test match both with bat and ball. The unbroken ninth-wicket partnership 89 runs partnership between Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami completely changed the course of the match. Then there were only two options left for England to either be defeated or draw the test match. Since the pitch has slow down the conditions were not preferably both to the batsman as well as bowlers.
But Indian pacers Mohammed Siraj, Ishant Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Shami bowled well on day5 to bowl out England for 120 in the second innings. Or in other words, we can say India bowlers as a unit took just 51.5 overs to bowl out the England team.
The captain of the Indian team while speaking to the Indian team said that “All I can say is I am proud. We have had some amazing overseas wins but this one is right up there just because of the belief and character we showed and that’s been the hallmark of the team “.
He also mentioned the vital contribution from Ajinkya Rahane on Day 4 said: “The way we played on the way we came back, especially in the second innings, this means a lot to us”.
Indian opener Rohit Sharma said that “Not one or two guys but all eleven came together at different stages, put their hand up, and took the responsibility”.
Another Indian opener KL Rahul who is also player of the match for an impressive knock of 129 runs in the first innings said that “To come here to England and win test matches is super, super special and credit goes to each and everybody on the team. We have been here for two and a half months”.
All the Indian pacers have done a really good job in the second innings at Lord’s against the host, but the performance from Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj stood out.
Mohammed Shami said that “The biggest happiness is that we are 1-0 ahead in the series. I hope we carry this confidence into the next three test matches and play better”.
Mohammed Siraj said that “To play here and performed well and win my country the match is the biggest achievement for me”.
