The Board of Control for Cricket in India urged the England and Wales cricket board to prepone all matches by a week. The board made a late call to ECB so that the IPL window can be opened for September.
The board wants all the Test matches to be preponed by a week so that the possibility of holding the IPL is increased as well. If that happens the board is likely to have a 3-week window open for the IPL where it can look to hold many doubleheader matches and wind up the tournament in September.
The last Test will be played at Old Trafford from September 10-14. The board is confident enough that if the last Test is completed before 10th September, the IPL would get completed before the T20 World Cup which is scheduled to start by mid-October.
