The 2025 Washington Open concluded recently and apart of the elite tennis stars, a special creature stole the limelight. It was Bella, the Russian tennis star Anna Kalinskaya’s 10-month-old dachshund puppy, who quickly became the tournament’s most beloved courtside personality.
Bella, an English cream dachshund, has accompanied Kalinskaya throughout her 2025 tour season. She made her official debut back in April at the Charleston Open. Since then, the pup has been a constant source of comfort and motivation for the rising tennis star. Kalinskaya lovingly refers to her as “my baby” and “an angel,” often crediting Bella as her good-luck charm.
Bella: Profile & Personality
- Breed: English cream dachshund puppy
- Age: Around 10 months old in July 2025
The affection between the two reached viral heights during Kalinskaya’s quarterfinal and semifinal victories in Washington. On July 25, following a 6‑3, 7‑5 win over Clara Tauson, the pup sprinted onto the court just seconds after the handshake. Fans were stunned—and delighted—as the tiny dog ran straight to her owner, tail wagging, in what many described as the “cutest invasion of the tournament.”
The very next day, the puppy did it again. After Kalinskaya dispatched Emma Raducanu 6‑4, 6‑3 in the semifinal, Bella broke loose from her courtside seat—complete with her own credential badge—and joyfully bounded onto the court. Kalinskaya scooped her up in celebration, smiling ear to ear, while the crowd erupted in applause.
The tournament even created a special badge for her, officially including her as part of the team.

The bond between Kalinskaya and Bella isn’t just endearing—it’s also symbolic. Tennis is a grueling, often isolating sport, and having the pet by her side offers a sense of home and joy that few players get on the road. The pup is more than a pet; she’s part of Team Kalinskaya, with tournament staff even printing her an official player’s guest badge.
While Kalinskaya has three dogs in total, Bella is the one who travels with her most often. Her calm and affectionate demeanor makes her ideal for high-pressure environments like pro tournaments. Whether sitting quietly courtside or playfully running into her owner’s arms, she brings a warmth and lightheartedness that tennis rarely sees at this level.
