The England Cricket Board (ECB) announced the England Cricket Team’s squad for the upcoming one-off test match against Zimbabwe on May 2, 2025. The match will take place at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. Ben Stokes will captain the team in this match.

Zimbabwe’s 2025 Tour of England: Only One Test Match

This tour will only include one test match. No T20 or ODI matches will be played between the two teams. The test match will start on May 22, 2025, which is a Thursday. Interestingly, the last time both teams played a test series was in 2003, so this will be the first test encounter between them in 22 years.

In the 2003 series, England whitewashed Zimbabwe by winning both matches. So far, England and Zimbabwe have played six test matches against each other. England won three of them, and three matches ended in a draw. This will be the fourth test series between the two teams.

England’s Full Squad for the Test Match

England has named 13 players for the upcoming home test match. Ben Stokes will lead the team. Key batter Harry Brook, who is also the new captain for England’s ODI and T20I teams, is part of the squad. Test specialist Joe Root is also included. Two uncapped players, Sam Cook and Jordan Cox, have been included in the 13-member squad.

England’s Test Squad:

  • Ben Stokes

  • Gus Atkinson

  • Shoaib Bashir

  • Harry Brook

  • Sam Cook

  • Jordan Cox

  • Zak Crawley

  • Ben Duckett

  • Ollie Pope

  • Matthew Potts

Zimbabwe’s Squad Yet to Be Announced

Zimbabwe has not yet announced their squad for the England tour. They finished a two-match series against Bangladesh on May 2, 2025, with a 1-1 draw. Zimbabwe won the first match by three wickets but lost the second match by an innings and 106 runs.

This match will be interesting for both teams, as it will showcase both old rivalries and new talents.
