A star performance by Devank Dalal, who scored 22 raid points, was the highlight of the match, making it his eighth straight Super 10 and a new season-high for points in a first half.
Devank Dalal Rules Bengal Warriorz vs Patna Pirates Encounter
Devank Dalal followed up his outstanding form with a performance for the ages. His 22 points, of which a career-best 15 came in the first half, were a key factor in the Warriorz’s turnaround after falling behind early. Dalal’s raiding gave him his eighth consecutive Super 10 and firmly placed him in MVP discussions for PKL Season 12.
First Half: Patna Pirates Gain Initial Foothold, Warriorz Stage Comeback
The match opened with an initial point from Devank, but Maninder Singh and Ayan retorted for Patna, gaining momentum with great raids. A multi-point raid by Maninder and a solid defensive action allowed the Patna Pirates to suffer the first ALL OUT, going ahead 13-7. At the interval break, Patna was enjoying a comfortable 16-11 lead.
However, Dalal had not completed it yet. Dalal’s Super Raid made the score 17-14, which sparked the comeback. Himanshu Narwal got in on the act, and that was promptly followed by a Bengal ALL OUT to get to 19-19.
The battle continued right up until Dalal scored again, pulling off a three-point Super Raid just at halftime to leave Bengal up 26-25 at the break.
Second Half: Momentum Shifts in a See-Saw Contest
The Bengal Warriorz sustained their momentum from the early part of the second half to extend their lead before Ayan fought back Patna with relentless raiding and finished his Super 10. The Pirates levelled the score again at 27-27.
As the match reached towards end point, Maninder Singh concluded his Super 10, and the defence of Patna briefly sent Devank Dalal out of the mat. In the last three minutes, with a Super Tackle, the Pirates pulled it back to level at 39-39.
Final Minute Heroics: Himanshu Narwal Delivers the Knockout Blow
As the match seemed likely to endure a photo finish, Himanshu Narwal dealt the final blow, bringing up two valuable points and enabling a late ALL OUT. That raid put the score at 47-43, creating a four-point gap the Patna could not respond back to. The Bengal Warriorz sealed the victory 48-42, winning a huge game driven by Dalal’s first-half glory and Narwal’s late-game brilliance.
