Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva has committed to an additional year with the club, extending his stay until the summer of 2026. His previous contract was set to conclude in 2025.
The skilled midfielder from Portugal became a part of Manchester City in the summer of 2017, significantly contributing to the club’s recent accomplishments. With an impressive tally of 308 appearances, Bernardo has triumphed in five Premier League titles, secured two FA Cups, clinched four League Cups, captured two Community Shields, and achieved victory in the Champions League.
Having found the back of the net 55 times, he notably scored the opening two goals in the pivotal 4-0 victory over Real Madrid during the Champions League semifinal, a highlight of the previous season’s triumph.
Reflecting on the extension, Bernardo shared his excitement, stating, “I’ve experienced six remarkable years at Manchester City, and I’m thrilled to extend my time here. The Treble win last season held immense significance, and being part of a squad driven by hunger and passion is invigorating.”
He added, “Success only fuels the desire for more, and this club provides the platform to continue achieving. I hold great affection for the manager, my teammates, and the fans. I look forward to contributing to more cherished memories in the years ahead.”
Beyond his club achievements, Bernardo has represented Portugal in international football with 82 caps. He was an integral member of the squad that claimed victory in the 2019 UEFA Nations League, earning the accolade of Player of the Tournament.
