English Prime Minister Boris Johnson will have a gathering of football bosses and fans’ representatives on Tuesday as they consider what move to make over the proposed European Super League.
It comes as FIFA president Gianni Infantino said the world administering body “objects” of the broadly denounced breakaway league, which has set off dangers of legal measures and penalties for the involved clubs.
Twelve major clubs — six from England, and three each from Spain and Italy — have pursued the Super League, which offers ensured spots for its establishing individuals and billions of dollars in installments.
The English clubs, the Premier League’s alleged ‘The Big Six’, are Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, and Tottenham.
It has incited an incensed response from fans and authorities, with UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin saying it was inspired by “ravenousness, childishness and narcissism”, and Liverpool mentor Jurgen Klopp saying it’s shut nature was “wrong”.
