Bowlers with most wickets in different phases of the IPL 2022

Bowlers are credited with winning team tournaments. For the bowlers, the game’s shortest format can be very challenging. The 16th season of the Indian Premier League is scheduled to begin on March 31. Taking wickets in different phases of the game will be very important for any team to win. Here is a look at some bowlers who succeeded in taking wickets in power play, middle overs and death overs.

Power Play (0-6)

  1. Mohammed Shami

Mohammed Shami while playing for the champions of the season Gujarat Titans took 11 wickets in 16 games in the power play. His best figures during this phase were 3/10. His early wickets helped the Titans in getting a better control of the match.

  1. Mukesh Choudhary

The left arm seamer from Chennai Super Kings also took 11 wickets in 13 games. With Deepak Chahar injured it was Choudhary who was responsible for taking the new ball for CSK.

  1. Trent Boult

Another left arm seamer joining the list is Trent Boult from Rajasthan Royals. Boult took 10 wickets in 16 games. Boult did not just take wickets for the Royals but also bowled with an economy of just 6.95 RPO.

Middle overs (7-16)

  1. Yuzvendra Chahal

IPL 2022 purple cap winner took the joint highest wickets in middle overs. Chahal took 20 wickets in 17 games. Chahal’s control in the middle orders helped Royals reach the finals last year.

  1. Wanindu Hasaranga

The Royal Challengers Bangalore leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga joins Chahal at the first position also taking 20 wickets in 16 games. Hasaranga bowled with an economy of just 7.27 RPO.

  1. Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep Yadav from Delhi Capitals also took 20 wickets. He took these wickets in just 14 games. Yadav was lone warrior in a poor DC bowling line-up.

Death overs (17-20)

  1. Dwayne Bravo

Dwayne Bravo took 11 wickets in just 9 innings for CSK in death overs. The West Indian pacer has been a death over specialist for CSK for many and he was successful to replicate his success once again in IPL 2022.

  1. Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 9 wickets in 13 games. Kumar also bowled with a good economy conceding just 8.6 RPO in death overs.

  1. Kagiso Rabada

Kagiso Rabada for Punjab Kings took 9 wickets in just 10 games during the death overs. Rabada was very efficient with his bowling. Rabada took a wicket almost every 7th ball in the last stage of the innings.
