While batting performances often grab attention, bowlers have also been making a huge impact. A hat-trick, which means taking three wickets in three consecutive balls is one of the rarest achievements for any bowler. Over the years, only a few bowlers have managed to achieve this milestone in the IPL.

Yuvraj Singh is one of the most famous cricketers and was one of the highest-paid players in the IPL. His value came mostly from his batting skills, but he also managed to impress with the ball.

Yuvraj is one of those three bowlers who have taken a hat-trick in the IPL. Both of his hat-tricks came while playing for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings). His first hat-trick came in the 2009 season against Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the second came against Deccan Chargers.

Yuzvendra Chahal is the only bowler in IPL history to take more than 200 wickets and he’s also the leading wicket-taker in the IPL. He holds many records, including multiple hat-tricks.

His first hat-trick came for the Rajasthan Royals in 2022 against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Then in the 2025 season, he became the first bowler to take a hat-trick in that edition by dismissing Deepak Hooda, Anshul Kamboj and Noor Ahmad while playing for Punjab Kings.

1. Amit Mishra – 3 Hat-Tricks

A former Indian leg-spinner Amit Mishra is the only bowler to take three hat-tricks in the IPL. He played for four different teams and took 174 wickets in 162 matches. Mishra made history by taking three hat-tricks in the tournament.

Amit Mishra’s first hat-trick came in 2008 for Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals). His second hat-trick came in 2011 for Deccan Chargers and his third one came in the 2013 IPL season while playing for Sunrisers Hyderabad against Pune Warriors.

Taking a hat-trick in the IPL is a big deal for any bowler. Amit Mishra holds the record for the most hat-tricks in IPL, while Yuvraj Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal have also made their mark with this achievement.
