The Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games head to Brisbane in 2032. Four years since Queensland was awarded the Games, the highly expensive venue plans are taking shape.
The Brisbane Olympics are scheduled to take place from 23 July to 8 August 2032, with Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, as the main host city. It will be the third Olympic Games held in Australia, following the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne, Victoria, and the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, New South Wales. It will be the second Summer Olympics held during the host country’s winter season, after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
The venues for the Brisbane Olympics 2032 have been revealed as which city will host what events have come to the fore.
Most contentiously, sports fans also learnt which stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies and the athletics.
Development has been going on, on that front. A new stadium for Brisbane Olympics will be built at Victoria Park, as will a 25,000-seat National Aquatic Centre, which will become the home of Australian water sports.
The RNA Showgrounds will become a 20,000-seat boutique stadium, next to a relocated Brisbane athletes’ village.
