England cricket team defeated Rohit Sharma’s men by 100 runs in the second ODI which was played at Lord’s cricket ground on Thursday, 14th July. It was a good comeback from the English side after they had a disappointing loss in the first ODI at The Oval on 12th July.
Indian batters couldn’t stay at the crease for long as the English bowlers bowled out the visitors on 146 runs. England did slip out in the first innings and could score 246 runs but they did well to defend that score. Reece Topley was named man of the match for his emphatic bowling performance. He also recorded the best bowling figures as England pacer in ODI. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma wasn’t impressed with the team’s performance in the second ODI and felt that they could have batted better.
“By no means that target wasn’t chaseable, but we didn’t bat well. Going to be an exciting one (in Manchester). Have to look at what we need to do better. Have to look at the conditions there and adapt,” said Rohit Sharma in the post-match presentation telecasted on Sony Sports Network.
The third and the last ODI between India and England will be played on Sunday, 17th July at Old Trafford.
