Piastri has been the most dominant force in the F1 2025, collecting five wins and acquiring 186 points after the Spanish Grand Prix. He also achieved eight consecutive podiums, adding to McLaren’s lead in the championship. Meanwhile, his teammate, Lando Norris, is trailing behind him by just 10 points. The McLaren duo has been dominant, and the rivalry between the two drivers seems to be iconic.

Despite trailing, Verstappen’s reputation as a relentless competitor keeps him firm in the title conversation. He has already claimed two victories this season, and his aggressive craft, particularly his overtakes in the first lap, has proved that he and Red Bull can not be counted on.

Piastri recently talked about the possibility of losing the title to Verstappen. He said, “It is a possibility, yes. But, on both sides of the garage here, we want to win because we’ve been the best driver, the best team, including against the other car in the team. You always want to earn things on merit, and you want to be able to beat everyone, including your teammate.”

“So that gives Lando and I the best chance of our personal goals of trying to become drivers’ world champion, while also achieving the main result for the team, which is the constructors’ championship. If we do get beaten by Max, of course, that would hurt, but we would know that we both had the same opportunity, we were racing everybody out there, and that’s just how it panned out. For us, it’s the most straightforward, the fairest way of going racing, and that’s what we’ve asked for,” he added.

With a third of the season yet to go, the championship is far from decided. Anything can happen now that we have our “Mad Max” back since the controversial penalty in the Spanish Grand Prix 2025. So keep an eye as the season progresses, the fight for the trophy will only get more dramatic.
