Can Max Verstappen Win The Driver’s Championship 2025

4 Min Read

Max Verstappen has been on fire since the summer break ended. Grabbing podium finishes, back-to-back wins and whatnot. Just a while ago, it seemed impossible for Verstappen to grab his fifth world championship title, but now, the odds are turning in his favour. So, with his recent consecutive win at Baku, there is only one question that remains on everyone’s mind, and it is: Can Max Verstappen win the Driver’s Championship 2025?

Well, if you’re a Verstappen stan, then we have some good news for you. It is mathematically possible for him to win the title this year, even with the crazy Papaya dominance. Wild, right? So, let’s take a look at how exactly the remaining seven race weekends have to go in order for Mad Max to become the world champion for the fifth time.

Can Max Verstappen Win The Driver’s Championship 2025

Well, technically, yes, Max Verstappen can win the Driver’s Championship 2025 after Baku, but the odds remain long and the mountain steep. The Red Bull star is currently sitting 69 points behind the leader, Oscar Piastri, and with seven races to go, this lead will be hard to reach, but not impossible.

In Baku, Piastri crashed in the very first lap and didn’t finish the race, being denied any points he could have earned to extend his lead. Moreover, Lando Norris, who is trailing behind Piastri, also only scored 6 points as P7, and Verstappen earned a whopping 25 points as P1. So, the odds seemed to have stacked against McLaren as they also couldn’t close on the Constructor’s Championship 2025 in Baku.

Now, if the fate keeps favouring Red Bull and one of the McLarens, preferably Oscar Piastri, end up in DNF in every single race ahead, and the other finishes behind points or at least out of the Top 5, earning minimal points, then Max Verstappen clinching the Driver’s Championship 2025 is mathematically possible.

Let’s keep it real: 69 points is a lot, but this is Formula 1, and stranger things have lit up the championship hunt before. With seven rounds left, there are a maximum of 196 points on offer (just in case someone goes on a total heater with fastest laps and sprint wins; Verstappen’s speciality, historically).

Especially after the summer break, upgrades at Monza are now laser-sharp, with low-downforce setup at Baku having unlocked the car’s deadly pace just when everyone else started tripping over their own shoelaces. So, for Verstappen, it’s blunt now: win, win, win, and hope the McLarens stumble over and over again. Point being, it’s never really over for Verstappen, unless it truly is. If it’s mathematically possible, he makes sure it happens. So, the coming race weekends will keep everyone of the edge of their seats to see if he will create history or Papapa boys will take the crown.
