CAN vs UAE: Both teams are in search of their first win in the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026

Canada will take on the UAE in the 20th match of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. The two sides are coming into the game having lost their opening match respectively, and would aim to open their account.

Canada lost their opening encounter against South Africa, played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, while the UAE were outplayed by New Zealand in Chennai, despite posting 173 runs on the board while batting first.

CAN vs UAE: Captains’ Corner

Dilpreet Bajwan, the Canadian captain, upon winning the toss and deciding to bat first, said that the team has arrived at this particular decision as they want to create pressure on the chasing side, who happened to be the UAE, as both of them are associate nations.

Bajwa was of the opinion that it should be a wicket which will be good for batting throughout the game as was the case in the last match played at this venue between India and Namibia less then 24 hours ago, and they would want to make the first use of it and post an above par total on the board in order to create pressure on the opposition.

Muhammad Waseem, the UAE captain, on the other hand, said that they will have to restrict the opposition to a low total. He also added that there is no pressure on the team, and they will look to put their best foot forward in all three departments.

CAN vs UAE: Pitch Report and Conditions

With the CAN vs UAE game being the second game to be played on the same pitch on consecutive days, it is expected to be a bit dry, meaning that the spinners will come into play, given that they pitch the ball in the right areas and let the surface do its thing. As far as the fast bowlers are concerned, they should rely on cutters and slower balls to get maximum purchase out of the surface.

When it comes to the batters, they will have to negotiate the initial few overs to get used to the nature of the surface and assess what a good score while batting first can be.
