The Canadian Grand Prix is all set to remain on the F1 calendar through 2035 with a new extension contract. After giving us an unforgettable experience last weekend, the track received a contract extension on Tuesday.
Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve has been a legendary track and the permanent host of the Canadian Grand Prix since 1978. Famous for the Wall of Champions at the end of the lap, the track is notable for its sharp corners and high-speed straights.
Canadian Grand Prix 2025: An Unforgettable Weekend
The Canadian Grand Prix 2025 was one of the best yet boring races of F1 2025. The race was going pretty monotonous until the controversial crash of Lando Norris, as he created contact with his teammate, Oscar Piastri. The race marked the first win of the 2025 season for both Mercedes and George Russell.
Kimi Antonelli became the third youngest driver to stand on a podium after Lance Stroll and Max Verstappen. Meanwhile, Nico Hulkenberg earned points for his team for the second consecutive time. Overall, the Canadian Grand Prix 2025 was one hell of a race, and it doesn’t come as a shock that its contract has been extended.
Stefano Domenicali On The Extension
Stefano Domenicali, the chief executive of F1, said, “I would like to thank the promoter, Octane Racing Group, for their continued efforts in upgrading this iconic venue in recent years, and all local, regional, and national political stakeholders who have worked closely together to make this event what it is today,”
Previously, the race was supposed to stay on the calendar until 2029, but two of those years did not host F1 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, hence the extension through 2031. Next year’s race will be held a little bit earlier than expected, which is on 24 May after switching places with Monaco.
