Iga Swiatek

Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek suffered a shocking loss to 19th-ranked Dane Clara Tauson in the fourth round in the Canada Open in the fourth round.

The Pole, who was the second seed in the tournament, was stunned 7-6 (7/1), 6-3, bringing an end to his winning streak as she fell short of reaching double digits.

In the first set, the Dane led 5-3 but failed to serve out for the opener. However, the 22-year-old stayed composed and won six points in a row from 1-1 in the tie-break to seal the opening set.

Up by a set, Tauson soon went up by a break in the second set as well. While Swiatek refused to quit and managed to get the break back, the No. 16 once again remained calm and earned herself another break in the eighth game before serving out for the match in the following game.

For Tauson, it was a sweet revenge. She had lost to Swiatek in a Wimbledon match.

Tauson booked a quarterfinal clash against Australian Open champion Madison Keys, who saved two match points on the way to a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 victory over Czech Karolina Muchova.

Coco Gauff

Coco Gauff, the top seed in the tournament, fell to teenager Victoria Mboko in the Round-of-16 at the tournament in Montreal.

The 18-year-old, who was handed a wildcard entry into the main draw, took 62 minutes to stun the two-time Grand Slam champion 6-1 6-4.

Mboko converted four of five break points against Gauff and has now dropped just one set in four matches at the tournament.

The Canadian entered the tournament ranked 85th, but victory against Gauff will move her up to 53rd, and will face Jessica Bouzas Maneiro in the quarter-finals.

Gauff, who has been struggling with serving issues, once again committed six double faults to take her tournament total to 43 in three matches.

After winning the French Open trophy, Gauff made a first round exit at Wimbledon. Her title hunt in Montreal, too, fell short.

Jessica Pegula

Two-time defending champion Jessica Pegula was eliminated in the third round of the Canada Open, falling 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 to Anastasija Sevastova.

Sevastova, ranked 386th in the world, broke the third-seeded Pegula six times on 10 chances.

The loss continued a poor run for the fourth-ranked Pegula, who won her opener in Montreal over Maria Sakkari of Greece, but exited Wimbledon and the D.C. Open after one match in July.
