Carlos Alcaraz’s coach in 2026 is Samuel López, a 55-year-old Spanish coach. He became Alcaraz’s head coach after a big change, when Carlos split with his long-time mentor, Juan Carlos Ferrero, in December 2025. López had earlier coached Pablo Carreño BustCarlos Alcaraza, so he has lots of experience. He joined Alcaraz’s team in 2024 and officially took charge as head coach at the start of the 2026 season.

Carlos Alcaraz changed his coaching team in late 2025 when he and his long-time coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, ended their seven-year partnership in December 2025. Ferrero had coached Alcaraz since he was 15 and helped him win many big titles. After the split, Alcaraz’s No. 2 coach, Samuel López, became his main coach for 2026.
López first joined Alcaraz’s team in December 2024 and worked alongside Ferrero in 2025 before taking the head coach role. Alcaraz said he still trusts his team and didn’t change routines much, but now López leads practices and plans events like the 2026 Australian Open and other big tournaments. Alcaraz has confidence in López’s tactics and preparation as they aim for more titles this year.
