On August 23, India marked a historic milestone in lunar exploration as Chandrayaan-3 executed a flawless landing at the Moon’s South Pole. This significant achievement, accomplished under the guidance of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), showcases a momentous triumph for the nation, with the success largely reliant on the performance of the Vikram Lunar lander. By achieving this successful landing, India has further elevated its global status, joining an exclusive group of countries that have achieved the remarkable feat of soft lunar landings. Alongside India, the United States, China, and the former Soviet Union stand as the only nations to achieve such landings.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his pride, stating, “Today, every Indian is celebrating. Every household is rejoicing. At this proud moment, I am also connected with my fellow citizens. This marks the beginning of a new era.” PM Modi also conveyed his congratulations to the ISRO scientists responsible for the successful mission. He emphasized, “No other nation has reached the South Pole of the moon before. Through the dedicated work of our scientists, we have reached this milestone.”

In addition to the prime minister’s sentiments, numerous sports figures shared their reactions to this historic achievement. Among them, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar took the lead and tweeted on X, formerly known as Twitter, stating, “@ISRO represents the finest of India. Modest, diligent women and men coming together, overcoming obstacles, and raising our national flag high.”

Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuzvendra Chahal, R Ashwin, Hockey India, Anil Kumble, Ajinkya Rahane, Mithali Raj, Sania Mirza, and more joined the celebrations, expressing their congratulations and pride on the social media platform X.

Dhoni’s daughter also reacted to the Chadrayaan 3 landing

The Chandrayaan-3, known as “Mooncraft” in Sanskrit, touched down precisely at 6:04 pm IST. Following the landing, the mission control team erupted in enthusiastic cheers, celebrating the nation’s remarkable achievement.
