Chelsea is one of those teams that have always been known for its ruthless and attacking footballing ideology. The Blue’s from 2011- 2012 and 2012-2013 was an immense force to reckon with. That star-studded team was comprised of everything, you name the player and the skill and there was it. Having the likes of Eden Hazard, Oscar, Juan Mata, Cesc Fabregas, John Terry, Frank Lampard, Cesar Azpilicueta, etc. This team is said to be a nickname of greatness and versatility in the football history books.
Remembering the day when Chelsea played Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge. On this day 9 years back a Premier League game took place that’d be going down in the future of Chelsea as one of the most ruthless games ever. On a cold chilly night in London the kick-off took place, Chelsea dominated and bossed the entire game, and also equaled their record of highest goals scored in a game by then.
The clock kept on ticking and Chelsea kept on dominating the game, winning aerial duels, passing long balls, making runs down the wins, etc. It is a treat to watch a game like that being played. Every football critic would love to see that kind of footballing flair in the field that Chelsea showed that day. Shots after shots dribble after dribbles the attacking intent from Chelsea on that day was from some other level.
Chelsea scored 8 goals that day and had 7 different players on the scoring sheet. Fernando Torres opened the scoring for the Blue’s by half time Rafa Benetiz’s side was already 3-0 up.
Here is the video of the game, for a proper flashback.
