South Korea’s world No. 1 An Se-young is set to face China’s Chen Yufei in the women’s singles quarterfinals at the BWF China Open.
Both the shuttlers emerged victorious in the second round of the tournament on Thursday.
The Korean shuttler secured a comfortable 21-13, 21-15 win over compatriot Sim Yu-jin in the second round.
On the other hand, Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Chen made a strong comeback from a game down to beat teammate Gao Fangjie 13-21, 21-5, 21-9.
“We know each other very well, but a tournament is different from daily training. Whoever performs better on the court will win,” said the 27-year-old.
Chen will now be eager for revenge as he lost to An in the quarterfinals of the Japan Open just six days ago. Both the shuttlers are ready to renew their rivalry in what is anticipated to be an exciting encounter.
“I’ll learn from last week’s defeat and go all out to challenge her,” she added.
