PKL Title Winning Coaches: In any sport, coaches motivate the players and prepare to play in intense matches. While it is a team sport and each and every member play an important role, it is the coaches who are the real masterminds making the tactical strategies.

List Of Coaches Who Won PKL Title In Each Season

Season 1- Kasinathan Baskaran – Jaipur Pink Panthers

The inaugural edition of the PKL was won by Jaipur Pink Panthers. Navneet Gautam led the team to first-ever PKL title with head coach Kasinathan Baskaran guiding the side.

Season 2 – Edachery Baskaran – U Mumba

U Mumba was close to winning the inaugural title but failed to Jaipur in the final. However, they made it a point to win the final in season 2.   Under the leadership of Season 1 MVP Anup Kumar, they proceeded to win every game at home to finish the season with an incredible 14 wins and only 2 losses.

E.Baskaran was the head coach who discovered talents like Shabheer Bappu and Rishank Devadiga and also built one of the formidable defense combos of Mohit Chillar, Surender Nada, Jeeva Kumar, and Vishal Mane.

Season 3 – Sanjeev Baliyan – Patna Pirates

Patna Pirates won the trophy in Season 3 when they were coached Sanjeev Baliyan. He built a young squad comprising of the likes of Pardeep Narwal, Rohit Kumar, and Sandeep Narwal. The trio dominated the season and Pirates won the first of their many trophies.

Season 4 – Arjun Singh – Patna Pirates

Patna Pirates replicated their title winning in Season 4. They became the first time to win back-to-back titles. However, this time it was under the guidence of coach Arjun Singh that the Pirates lifted their second PKL trophy.

Arjun Singh’s emphasized on fitness as he held a training camp for a month before the season started which ensured all the players were fit. They roped in Fazel Atrachali and Dharmaraj Cheralathan as their two corners and the duo came out gave their best in title defense.

Season 5 – Ram Mehar Singh – Patna Pirates

Ram Mehar Singh, who took over as the coach of Patna in for Season 5, after being the assistant coach since season 2.  While it was young Raiders, the defense department with the experience of Vishal Mane and Sachin Shingade proved to be a game-changer as Patna completed a hat-trick of PKL titles.

Ram Meher Singh (Kabaddi Coach)

Season 6 – Randhir Singh Sehrawat – Bengaluru Bulls

Randhir Singh is the only coach who has worked with a single team from the beginning. His endeavours finally yielded the result in Season 6 as Bengaluru Bulls became the fourth team to lift the PKL title. Bulls won 13 of their 22 games, and advanced straight to the first qualifying round and won the trophy. Pawan Sehrawat emerged as the hero as he scored 271 points which helped the Bulls lift the title.

Season 7 – BC Ramesh – Bengal Warriors

Bengal Warriors win their first-ever PKL title in Season 7 under the coaching of BC Ramesh. He built up backup Raiders who helped them win the trophy.

Season 8 – Krishna Kumar Hooda – Dabang Delhi

Dabang Delhi won their maiden PKL championship in Season 8 under coach Krishna Kumar Hooda who put forth an experienced defensive unit and a young Raiding unit. Naveen Kumar (13 points) and Vijay Malik (14 points) were the stars of Delhi’s title triumph.

Under the direction of seasoned defender Joginder Narwal, Dabang Delhi won their maiden PKL Trophy with an exciting victory over the Patna Pirates. It was coach Krishna Kumar Hooda who put forth an experienced defensive unit and a young Raiding unit.

Season 9 – Sanjeev Baliyan – Jaipur Pink Panthers

Jaipur Pink Panthers‘ second PKL title came in 2022–2023 (Season9). Captain Sunil Kumar led from the front and scored six points in the finals. jith Kumar and Arjun Deshwal also scored six points each.

This time Panthers won the title under head coach Sanjeev Kumar Baliyan. This was Baliyan’s second PKL title as a coach.

Season 10 – BC Ramesh – Puneri Paltan

Puneri Paltan relied on BC Ramesh’s strategies to win Season 10 of the Pro Kabaddi League. The were a dominant force throughout the competition. He roped in Mohammadreza Chiyanneh and selected Aslam Inamdar as skipper.

Season 11 – Manpreet Singh – Haryana Steelers

Haryana Steelers defeated the Patna Pirates in the final of Season 11 to claim their first-ever PKL title. They finished on top of the points table that season. This victory ended the long trophy drought for their legendary coach, Manpreet Singh. He became the first person in PKL history to win the title as both a captain and a coach.

Season 12 – Joginder Narwal – Dabang Delhi

Dabang Delhi defeated Puneri Paltan to win their second title in Season 2. With this victory, Narwal became the second person, after Manpreet Singh, to win the title as both captain and coach.
