Corbin Bosch Gets Demerit Point For Ben Dwarshuis Send-Off In SA vs AUS 2nd T20I

3 Min Read

South Africa all-rounder Corbin Bosch has been awarded a demerit point by the ICC for a send-off to Australia’s Ben Dwarshuis in the second T20I on Tuesday. Bosch dismissed Dwarshuis in the 17th over of Australia’s innings and pointed in the direction of the dugout as the batter left the field.

The action was considered a violation of Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Support Personnel, which deals with “using language, an action, or a gesture which could provoke an aggressive response from a batter on dismissal.”

Bosch Accepts the ICC Sanction

Corbin Bosch pleaded the offence and accepted the sanction without a formal hearing. This is his first demerit point in international cricket, with the match being his 11th game for South Africa.

Match Performance and Series Impact

Even after the incident, Bosch was instrumental in South Africa’s 53-run win, taking 3 for 20 from three overs. Young sensation Dewald Brevis dominated the show with an unbeaten 125 from only 56 balls, leading South Africa to 218 for 7. Bosch, along with Kwena Maphaka, helped bowl Australia out for 165, drawing the three-match series 1-1.
