Corbin Bosch, a bowling all-rounder, will replace fellow South African pacer Lizaad Williams in the Mumbai Indians squad for the upcoming IPL. Williams has been ruled out due to a knee injury. Bosch, 30, has played 86 T20 matches, taking 59 wickets and scoring a highest of 81 runs.
Although he hasn’t played in the IPL before, he played a key role in MI Cape Town’s title-winning 2025 season in SA20, taking 11 wickets.
“Corbin was a part of the victorious Proteas’ U-19 team that lifted the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2014, notably winning the Player of the Match in the final for a magnificent spell of 4/15,” Mumbai Indians said in a statement on X.
“He has been a regular across formats for his domestic team and made his debut for Proteas in 2024. A right-handed middle-order batter and right-arm fast bowler, Corbin has played 86 T20s, having taken 59 wickets and has recorded a highest score of 81 with the bat. Mumbai Indians wish Lizaad a speedy recovery and extend a warm welcome to Corbin into the #OneFamily.”
Corbin Bosch, who has played one Test and two ODIs for South Africa since making his debut last year, has been added to the country’s 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy as a replacement for the injured Anrich Nortje.
He was once part of Rajasthan Royals as a net bowler and was later signed by the team in 2022 to replace Australia’s Nathan Coulter-Nile.
Bosch was also part of the South African U-19 team that won the 2014 World Cup, where he was named player of the match in the final for taking 4 wickets for 15 runs.
Mumbai Indians will kickstart their IPL campaign with a clash against Chennai Super Kings on March 23.
