CPL 2026: The Trinbago Knight Riders, defending champions of CPL, were clear about sending this message during last week’s draft that they are intending to move forward this season by signing back their main three players, Nicholas Pooran, Sunil Narine and Kieron Pollard with RMO agreements.
They are backing their core team which were the champions in the recent season which marked their 5th win of CPL title.
In that season, the skipper Nicholad Pooran had a great season by providing some match-winning performances. On the other hand Pollard received the award of player of the tournament for his various match-winning knocks. Along with them, Sunil Narine being one of the most experienced T20 player has been a part of Knight Riders across various leagues worldwide as an important player.
TKR Add More Strength for CPL 2026
Other than retaining their core star players, Trinbago Knight Riders also used RMOs (retained management options) to keep Akeal Hosein and Terrance Hinds in the team. Along with this move TKR have made their all-rounders setup even stronger by adding Justin Greaves and Dominic Drakes for this upcoming season.
With the current well-balanced team that contains attacking batters, prominent all-rounders and elite spin options, TKR is looking as one of the best contenders for lifting the CPL 2026 title.

Guyana Amazon Warriors Retain Key Players
Guyana Amazon Warriors’ seemed to have Consistency and Stability Again during the CPL 2026 Draft. They retained several high-Profile players from last Year (Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd).
Along with that they also maintained an impressive pace-bowling attack for their team by picking Shamar Joseph using RMO process.
Jamaica Kingsmen Sign Andre Russell and Rovman Powell
One of the most talked about topic of CPL 2026 was also the recruitments done by Jamaica Kingsmen.
The franchise has signed global superstar cricketers Andre Russell and Rovman Powell. Both are the most prominent players of Caribbean cricket in West Indies. Both players were formerly signed by Jamaica Kingsmen which were a part of the former Jamaica Tallawahs’ teams, prior to being acquired by different franchises to play for them in 2021-2022 and 2020-21 seasons, respectively.
Russell has been a part of TKR (Trinidad Knight Riders) for the last 4 seasons, while Powell will be returning to the Jamaica franchise after spending his last season with the Barbados Royals, who are now called the Barbados Tridents.
Barbados Tridents Secure Motie and Rutherford
The Tridents have also made great signings this year which includes addition of Guakesh Motie, a left-arm spinner and Sherfane Rutherford, a middle-order power hitter to their squad. Brandon King and Kadeem Alleyne were retained using the Right to Match Option for maintaining a good balance of stability and power in the Barbados Tridents.
Patriots and Falcons Make Important Moves
Jason Holder, a former captain of the West Indies national cricket team, and Johnson Charles, a wicketkeeper-batsman and leading run-scorer in the history of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL), were signed by the St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots.
Alongsode retaining Jayden Seales, Amir Jangoo, and Fabian Allen, the pacer Alzarri Joseph and Evin Lewis (aggressive opening batsman) have been signed by the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.
St. Lucia Kings Retain Core Group
St. Lucia Kings, who lifted the title of CPL 2024 season seemed to keeping a hold on their key players like Roston Chase, Matthew Forde, and Keon Gaston foe this challenging season of CPL 2026.
Schedule of CPL 2026 and Foreign Players
Foreign player announcements for all the seven teams will be declared soon. The CPL 2026 season will commence on August 7 and end on September 20.
