Cricket Scotland appoints Trudy Lindblade as new CEO

Cricket Scotland has revealed its selection of Trudy Lindblade as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Trudy is expected to begin her duties with Cricket Scotland early in 2024 after successfully overseeing the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and across Scotland earlier this year.

Pete Fitzboydon, the current Interim Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland, will remain in his role until Trudy assumes her responsibilities, ensuring a seamless transition in the organization.

Trudy expressed her enthusiasm for her new role, stating, “It is a privilege to be appointed as Chief Executive Officer of Cricket Scotland. I am excited to be returning to the sport of cricket and very much look forward to getting started in the role early in the new year.”

She acknowledged the challenges that Cricket Scotland faces, particularly in light of the “Changing the Boundaries” report. Trudy is committed to leading Cricket Scotland’s efforts to combat racism in the sport and ensure that the organization embodies the spirit of community, belonging, and equal respect.

“I’m looking forward to working with my new team and the cricketing community to build a bright and prosperous future for cricket in Scotland, using the new strategy and forthcoming increased ICC funding as a catalyst for delivering change and creating new opportunities to grow the game at every level,” Trudy stated.

Trudy brings a wealth of experience in cricket to her new role, having previously headed up the Event Management Department at the 2007 Men’s ODI World Cup in Kingston, Jamaica. She was also part of the team responsible for delivering the first Men’s T20 World Cup in South Africa in 2007. Her background includes over five years in the Cricket Australia Marketing and Events team and secondments to the International Cricket Council in 2002 and 2003 to support the delivery of the 2002 ICC Champions’ Trophy and the 2003 Men’s ODI World Cup.

Before her role as Chief Executive of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships, Trudy worked for the Victorian Major Events Company and Visit Victoria between 2013 and 2020, contributing to various projects. She played a pivotal role in securing Melbourne’s bid for the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup matches and Liverpool FC’s first appearance in Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2013. Additionally, she was involved in the feasibility, creation, and delivery of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.

Pete Fitzboydon, the Interim Chief Executive of Cricket Scotland, expressed his delight at securing Trudy for the CEO position. He noted that Cricket Scotland is on the cusp of a new, ambitious strategy and has secured increased funding for the next four years, and Trudy’s extensive experience makes her the ideal candidate to lead this new era.

While acknowledging the ongoing challenges in Scottish cricket, particularly related to inclusivity and anti-racism, Fitzboydon expressed his commitment to staying in his interim CEO role to ensure a smooth handover to Trudy. He also praised her as the standout candidate and highlighted her accomplishments in successfully organizing the UCI Cycling World Championships in Glasgow and Scotland this summer, which demonstrated her capabilities and made her the ideal leader to drive Cricket Scotland forward.
