Rajasthan Royals ended their disappointing IPL 2025 season on a high note with an easy six-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. The star of the match was 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who played a smart and fearless innings, scoring 57 runs from just 33 balls.

In what was a match with no impact on the playoffs, Suryavanshi once again showed why he’s been the biggest positive for the Royals this season. His knock helped the team chase down the 188-run target without much trouble.

How Can CSK Prevent A Historic Low In IPL 2025 After RR Loss

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are currently at the bottom of the IPL 2025 points table with just 6 points from 13 matches and a net run rate (NRR) of -1.030. Rajasthan Royals (RR) are placed ninth, having finished their campaign with 8 points from 14 games and an NRR of -0.549.

To avoid finishing last for the first time in IPL history, CSK must win their final league match against Gujarat Titans – and they need to do it by a very large margin to improve their NRR above Rajasthan’s. If they fail to do so, they will end up at the bottom of the table, marking a historic low for the five-time champions.

Earlier, Ayush Mhatre (43), Brevis (42), and Dube (39) helped CSK post 187/8. Dhoni scored 16. Yudhvir Singh and Akash Madhwal took three wickets each.

MS Dhoni Reflects on CSK’s Performance After Defeat

Speaking after the match, MS Dhoni, who scored 16 runs off 17 balls, said they put up a decent total but losing wickets at regular intervals cost them the game. MS Dhoni stated:

If you look at the amount of runs we have put on the board, it’s very good. But if you look at the wicket, I think we lost quick wickets. It puts pressure on the lower-middle order. Brevis played really well. I feel the runs were up, the run-rate was up but we lost two or more wickets.”

Dhoni’s Advice for CSK’s Batters

MS Dhoni was very impressed with the young pacer Anshul Kamboj and praised him highly, but pointed out that he doesn’t get much swing. He said:

“Anshul is good. He gets a good seam movement. He doesn’t get much swing. I feel the ball hits you harder than the speed gun suggests. We are just trying to ease him in. Try not to give too many runs in the first six overs. He has bowled three overs inside the powerplay. It’s tough but he has done well when the batters are set and trying to score freely.”

MS Dhoni, in the end, mentioned that the CSK batters need to be more consistent and play longer innings. He elaborated:

“I think it’s the consistency that you have to look for. If you are looking at an SR of 200, then getting the consistency is hard. They need to back themselves to play long innings. Don’t take that extra pressure. When you have a good season, people expect a lot of things from you. It’s the first season. Don’t try too many things. Learn from the experienced players and the support staff. Try to finish the games, and that would be my advice to the young players.”
