IND vs AUS: Pitch Report

It will be the same pitch that was used for the high-octane India vs Pakistan. The pitch looks dry and patchy which could assist the spinners. There hasn’t been a lot of dew during the previous matches in the tournament so batting first and putting the runs on the board could be a wise choice for the team winning the toss.

India’s journey up to the finals

India remains the only team to be undefeated in the tournament. The host nation comes into the final on the back of 10 consecutive wins in the tournament. India won the first five matches while chasing the target including their first match against the same opponent in Chennai. The Rohit Sharma-led side won their next five games while batting first and defending a total. India won while chasing against arch-rivals, Pakistan at the same ground in their third match.

Australia’s journey up to the finals

Australia started their tournament off the wrong foot with two back-to-back losses against India and South Africa. The five-time champions lost to India while defending a total while they lost to the Proteas while chasing a target. Since their two losses, Australia has been on a rampage and has managed to win eight consecutive matches. The Pat Cummins-led side has won four matches while chasing and four matches while defending a total. Australia too won their clash against arch-rivals, England at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Their win came while defending a total of 286 runs.
