Dale Steyn is recognized as one of the best fast bowlers to have played cricket. And his records across the formats say it all, he seemed to have a staggering career. He can swing the ball, bowl with a high pace and extract bounce from the surface, and also nailing pinpoint yorkers. Dale Steyn’s bowling comprises of these attributes, that is the reason he was able to torture great batsmen across the globe. Dale Steyn has taken 699 wickets, being the second highest wicket-taker for South Africa till today.

His skill or expertise is very well known to many, but interestingly not many would know that inspiring South African has dreamed to become a batsman at once. Dale Steyn revealed in the interaction that during his academy days, he batted at No.3 and also received Batsman-of -the- Year award. But after meeting players like AB de Villiers, and Faf du Plessis has decided to shift his focus towards his bowling.

During his first academic year after school, he had a bad hamstring injury. In this phase itself, Dale Steyn decided to bat. He batted at No.3 and also received the award of being the batsman of the year. It was never imagined experience for Dale Steyn. On the interaction with Sanjay Manjrekar that he but these guys are proper batsmen went to Pretoria to join the Titans team.

This was the time he met Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers. It was the same time that he rubs shoulders with Alivio Peterson. It just took a matter of time for Steyn to release that, he is a decent batsman and these guys are proper batsmen, so to be in contention to play for South Africa or for even Titans for that matter, he has to concentrate on his bowling.

At the end of the interaction, Dale Steyn said funnily that “I little bit regret right now because I think I could have averaged closer to 20 and who knows gone for more money in the IPL if I was a better all-rounder like Chris Morris”.
