Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were dealt a tough blow during their crucial IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals (DC) as captain Ajinkya Rahane picked up an injury and had to leave the field. The incident occurred at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, April 29.
Ajinkya Rahane Injured While Fielding Against Delhi Capitals
In what is a must-win game for KKR, the team has been working hard with the ball despite Delhi Capitals putting up a strong fight with the bat.
Rahane injured himself while trying to stop a shot during the 12th over. The delivery, bowled by Andre Russell to a well-set Faf du Plessis, was a no-ball, and Rahane’s effort to make the stop unfortunately resulted in an injury.
Andre Russell bowled a full delivery outside off stump, and Faf du Plessis drove it firmly towards extra cover, where Ajinkya Rahane was fielding. Unfortunately, the KKR captain couldn’t stop the ball cleanly, and it struck him hard on the finger.

After taking over as captain, Sunil Narine turned the match in KKR’s favor. He picked up three quick wickets – Axar Patel, Tristan Stubbs, and Faf du Plessis – finishing with 3/29 in four overs.
He also made a smart decision to bring Varun Chakravarthy into the attack in the 18th over, where the spinner took two wickets to tighten the grip on Delhi Capitals.
Earlier, Rahane scored a quick 26 off 14 before his injury, while Raghuvanshi (44) and Rinku Singh (36) added 61 runs together. Despite a late fightback by DC, KKR posted 204/9.
