Denmark Open 2025: India’s star men’s doubles pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty advanced to the semifinals of the Denmark Open Super 750 badminton tournament after a hard-fought victory over Indonesia’s Muhammad Rian Ardianto and Rahmat Hidayat.
The sixth-seeded Indian duo triumphed 21-15, 18-21, 21-16 in a gripping 65-minute quarterfinal. Despite dropping the second game after a tight contest, Satwik and Chirag regained momentum in the decider to seal their spot in the last four. They will next face Japan’s world No. 10 pair, Takuro Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi, on Saturday. The Indians lead the head-to-head 4-1 against the Japanese duo.
Having already secured a World Championships bronze earlier this year and finishing runners-up at the Hong Kong Open and China Masters last month, Satwik-Chirag are eyeing another podium finish in this Super 750 event.
Meanwhile, in men’s singles, Lakshya Sen crashed out in the quarterfinals, losing 9-21, 14-21 to seventh-seeded Alex Lanier of France in just 44 minutes. Lakshya, who had earlier stunned world No. 2 Anders Antonsen, looked fatigued and struggled with unforced errors.
