The Indian Premier League is getting more intense and exciting day by day. Even though MS Dhoni has not played a single match in this IPL season 2026. In a video, Dhoni is seen practicing in Wankhede Stadium ahead of a big clash between the Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super kings on 23rd April. Due to a calf injury, he missed 6 matches of this tournament for his team, CSK. Cricket fans badly want to see ‘Thala’ play in this league. Now, he is seen practising without any discomfort, giving a huge relief to Dhoni and CSK fans. But the question still arises, will he be back on the field in the next match?

Will Dhoni be back in the next game?

There is no official confirmation of him playing in the next match against the Mumbai Indians. But, for the first time ever in this season, he was seen on the ground and practising like he is totally fit and fine. Even though he batted and does wicketkeeping practises as well. He had travelled to Hyderabad for the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad, but did not train like he had this time.

Why is CSK not in a rush to ‘Thala’ back?

Everyone wants to see MS Dhoni play for the Chennai Super Kings. Even CSK Management knows this very well. But Dhoni is 44, and at this age the recovery time for ground is totally different and calf injury should not be taken for granted, especially a player like Mahendra Singh Dhoni who comes at number 6 or 7 to finish the game. MS eyes always on finishing the game means rapidly running between the wicket and the way he used to take the game till the last ball and win matches for his franchise. Although CSK is not fully convinced to play in the next game against MI.
