Diamond League 2025: A Curtain Raiser To The Track And Field Events

After an exhilarating season came to a close in Brussels last month, athletes will now begin their preparations for the next Wanda Diamond League campaign. The Wanda Diamond League 2025 will kick-off in April at Xiamen, China which will once again see the top athletics stars from across the world battle for glory throughout a 15-meet campaign. 

Top athletes from across four different continents at 14 of the sport’s most prestigious one-day meetings, with the most successful qualifying for the  two-day Wanda Diamond League 2025 Final in Zurich to be held on 27 and 28 August.

Like the previous season, the 2025 edition begins with two meets in China, starting in Xiamen before moving to Shanghai/Suzhou in early May.

The series will remain in Asia going to Doha and Rabat before the first European meeting of the year in Rome on June 6th.

Following stops in Oslo, Stockholm and Paris, the Road to the Final will then hit Eugene, Monaco and London in July before entering the home straight in August. 

After events in Silesia, Lausanne and Brussels, the Diamond League Final will return to Zurich for the first time since 2022.

How to qualify for Diamond League 2025 Final

Each discipline will be staged between four and seven times, giving athletes from across the world ample opportunities to qualify for the final. 

At each of the 14 meetings before the Diamond League Final, athletes will be awarded points based on their standings. Winners of events will earn eight points, with second-place earning seven and so on, all the way through to eighth-place finishers who earn one point.

Athletes with highest points throughout the season will be rewarded with a place in the Diamond League 2025 Final, with the top six competitors in field events, top eight in 100m-800m and top ten for longer distance events all eligible to compete for the Diamond League title in Zurich.

All 32 Wanda Diamond League champions will then be crowned at the series final at Weltklasse Zurich, with both the iconic Diamond Trophy and record levels of prize money.
