Diamond League Oslo 2025: Olympic Déjà vu

All the three one-lap hurdles medallists from Paris 2024 Rai Benjamin, Karsten Warholm and Alison Dos Santos reunite on the men’s 300m hurdles. American Benjamin, the reigning Olympic champion, will race in the shorter hurdles distance for the first time since 2014 when he set his personal best of 37.61. The 300m hurdles is now recognized by World Athletics as an official event, and a new world record could be set.

Norwegian superstar Warholm is ready to take advantage of the home track, where he broke the 400m hurdles world record in 2021. He also has experience in the shorter event, having raced to the world’s best time of 33.05 at the Diamond League in Xiamen last April. But he doesn’t believe he will really benefit from that when he also faces the 2022 world champion, Brazilian Dos Santos, the Olympics bronze medallist.

The three medallists from the Olympic men’s pole vault will also be reunited in Oslo. Sweden’s double gold medallist Duplantis will compete against USA’s Sam Kendricks, the Paris silver medallist, and Emmanouil Karalis of Greece. All the three top contenders are seeking to go past the six-meter mark in Oslo.
