An Se-Young, the world number 1 and the reigning Olympic Champion, made a remarkable comeback as she faced an early exit in the previous tournament at the Singapore Open 2025. In the women’s singles final against China’s Wang Zhiyi, she initially dropped the first set but seized the second and third, earning her a dramatic comeback, and the title in a match that lasted 81 minutes.
This victory marked her fifth title of the year and also made her the first woman ever to win three Super 1000 tournaments in a single calendar year, creating history.
Anders Antonsen’s Triumph After A Long Wait
In the men’s singles, Anders Antonsen finally captured his maiden Indonesia Open crown after two previous final defeats. He overcame Taiwan’s Chou Tien Chen with 22-20 and 21-14. His victory is particularly significant because it ended a title drought after finishing as runner-up at both the Malaysia Open and the Thailand Open earlier this year.
This win marked his fifth in the 13 encounters against Chou and fulfilled his long-standing dream of lifting a Super 1000 trophy.
