Former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli is back in the T20I squad ahead of the second T20I against England which will be played on Saturday, 9th July at Edgbaston. Virat Kohli and some other players who played the last rescheduled Test match against England were given some rest before adding them in the Indian T20I squad. But all these players are back in the training for the second and third T20I.

Rishabh Pant, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, are all back in the squad. Indian team played very well in the first T20I against England and it was an all-round performance from the team. So the question arises is where will these players fit in. It will be difficult for the selectors and coach to put the senior and experienced players in the starting XI as the young ones performed well in the last game.

Three players Virat Kohli can replace in the playing XI (Second & Third T20I):

Deepak Hooda: Deepak Hooda is having a great time in T20I cricket. His form is talked about a lot by the experts and ex-cricketers. Because of Deepak Hooda’s peak form, this switch between him and Virat Kohli in the playing XI seems unlikely.

Suryakumar Yadav: Suryakumar Yadav also played well in the first T20I. Virat Kohli can replace him but if this happens then Deepak will have to bat at No. 4 instead of No. 3. However, this also seems unlikely because India needs a deeper batting line-up and Suryakumar Yadav stats at No. 4 is really good.

Ishan Kishan: Ishan Kishan has been opening with skipper Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli used to open the innings for RCB in the IPL 2022 and thus this switch seems more likely. The selectors can put Virat Kohli at opening with skipper Rohit. This will not be the first time he will be opening the innings, he has played before and has a decent stat.
