The ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2025 is set to get underway from 28 January to 2 February, in what will be the first international championships event of the skating season.
Some of the best skating athletes from Europe will arrive in Tallinn, Estonia, to build their momentum ahead of the World Championships in March.
The Tondiraba Ice Hall in the Estonian capital will welcome 162 of the continent’s top skaters – 34 men, 32 women, 18 pairs, and 30 ice dance teams – with two of the defending champions, Adam Siao Him Fa of France and Italy’s ice dance couple Charlène Guignard / Marco Fabbri, returning to try to retain their titles.
ISU European Figure Skating Championships 2025: Stars to watch
Siao Him Fa is the top favourite to win the men’s event as the defending champion. After missing out on the Grand Prix Final last December due to injury, the Frenchman will be looking to return to his winning ways.
Another Frenchman Kévin Aymoz, who grabbed the national title in Siao Him Fa’s absence, tops the score chart by a European (282.88). He will enter the competition with confidence and bid to finish atop the podium at the European Figure Skating Championships 2025.

Italy’s Daniel Grassl, a European silver medallist in 2022, makes his first appearance at the Championships in two seasons, and is joined in the Italian team by three-time medallist Matteo Rizzo. Other previous European medallists competing include Latvia’s Deniss Vasiljevs and Switzerland’s Lukas Britschgi.
With defending champion Loena Hendrickx having withdrawn from the Europeans due to ongoing fitness and injury concerns,
The women’s event looks to be pretty open with the withdrawal of defending champion Loena Hendrickx.
Italy’s Lara Naki Gutmann with last season’s best score registered by a European (198.49), won her first Grand Prix medal with bronze at the Finlandia Trophy is an athlete to watch out for at the European Figure Skating Championships in Tallinn.
In the women’s event, Georgia’s Anastasiia Gubanova, a one-time European champion, is another top contender after the withdrawal of defending champion Loena Hendrickx due to an injury.
Grand Prix Final champions and world bronze medallists Minerva Fabienne Hase / Nikita Volodin of Germany are the favourites to win the pairs title. Georgia’s Anastasiia Metelkina and Luka Berulava, runners-up last year are set to pose as challengers at the European Figure Skating Championships 2025.
In ice dance, defending champions Guignard / Fabbri will headline the field. Great Britain’s Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson, winners of both their Grand Prix assignments this season, will look to carry forward their momentum.
