The European Judo Championships 2025 is set to get underway from April 23 to 26 with the mixed team taking place on April 27.
will be held at the Morača Sports Center in Podgorica, Montenegro, from 23 to 27 April 2025 as part of the IJF World Tour.
This is the first major title since the Paris Olympics 2024. The European Judo Championships will mark the beginning of the new olympic cycle in the run up to LA 2028. It is also the first major championship under the new rules.
Several Judo‘s Olympic champions, world champions, defending European champions, teenage prodigies and seasoned veterans will battle out on the tatami at the European Judo Championships 2025
Clarisse Agbegnenou, one of the most decorated judoka, will be the main focus at the championship. A five-time Olympic medallist, six-time world champion, and already a five-time European champion, the French icon is chasing a historic sixth continental gold in the -63kg category. If successful, she’ll become the most decorated French judoka in European Championships history.
In the men’s competition, reigning Olympic and world champions Hidayat Heydarov (-73kg) and Zelym Kotsoiev (-100kg) will be the athletes to look for. Both are each ranked world number one,and will be looking to maintain their dominance. Heydarov, in particular, is eyeing his fourth consecutive European crown, a rare feat in one of judo’s most fiercely contested categories.
