McLaren driver, Lando Norris has expressed his concerns over Brad Pitt and his crew getting permission to be a part of the formation lap. He will reportedly film a few sequences of the film he and Lewis Hamilton are making at the Silverstone racecourse. Mercedes has also created an F2 car that looks just like a Formula 1 car and has a black and golden chassis. The team was given the name APxGP. Pitt has a sizable production staff in Silverstone. The movie crew also has a dedicated garage next to Ferrari where they have erected a hoarding of Sonny Hayes, the character played by Pitt in the picture. Everyone does not agree with how readily the track is made available to the film crew.
Lando Norris is not happy with Brad Pitt
Pitt will participate in the formation lap as well, which irritates the McLaren star. Every car on the grid completes a lap of the course before the race to warm up its brakes and tyres. However, Norris emphasised that Pitt might sabotage the crucial week before the race during the press conference. Currently ranked 10th driver said, “I’ve heard they’ll [APXGP] be joining us on the installation lap [on Sunday]. I just hope they don’t ruin that.”
Joshua Pearce, the young, brilliant F1 driver in the movie who Pitt’s character would mentor would be played by Damson Idris. They have received the majority of the attention this race weekend since the movie has garnered enough buzz. Even the modified F1 car driving on the circuit this weekend drew reactions from certain drivers.
Alpine F1 teammates react to APxGP
Drivers spoke in-depth to the media on Thursday about witnessing the F1 car created for the movie. Pierre Gasly said he would be sad if he couldn’t divebomb Pitt on the track.
Gasly’s teammate, Esteban Ocon, made light of the ‘possible upgrades’ this weekend’s APxGP may offer. He even discussed Pitt’s character’s peak ‘fitness’ as well.
Lewis Hamilton
The Silverstone GP would be extra special for the Mercedes driver. He will be returning to his home track and would hope to get a better finish as the gap between him and 3rd placed Fernando Alonso has extended in the last couple of races. Hamilton would be shooting some extra scenes with the Hollywood star for the F1 movie.
