4 Min Read

Quickest Indians to 100 ODI Wickets have shown how talented and consistent they are in limited-overs cricket. Reaching 100 wickets is a big achievement for any bowler, but doing it quickly is even harder. Only a few Indian bowlers have managed to reach this milestone in the fewest matches, showing they can take wickets regularly and perform under pressure. These bowlers are Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Irfan Pathan, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Zaheer Khan, all achieving it in under 66 matches.

Mohammed Shami

Shami is one of the quickest Indians to 100 ODI wickets, reaching the milestone on January 23, 2019, against New Zealand in Napier. He did it in 56 matches, taking his 100th wicket by bowling out Martin Guptill. His fast bowling and swing made him dangerous, helping India take early control and pick up key wickets.

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah reached 100 ODI wickets during the 2019 World Cup at Headingley on July 6, 2019, in 57 matches. He got his milestone wicket by dismissing Dimuth Karunaratne. His wrist-spin and clever variations make it hard for batters, and he often picks wickets at crucial moments, making him a key player for India.

Irfan Pathan

Irfan reached 100 ODI wickets in 2006 against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi, in 59 matches. He could swing the ball both ways and often took early wickets, putting pressure on opponents. Pathan was one of India’s early fast bowlers to reach 100 wickets quickly, showing his talent in ODIs and Tests.

Yuzvendra Chahal

Chahal became the fifth-fastest Indian to 100 ODI wickets on February 6, 2022, against the West Indies in Ahmedabad, in 60 matches. He got his milestone wicket by dismissing Nicholas Pooran and later took Kieron Pollard’s wicket. His leg-spin and smart bowling in the middle overs make him a big threat and an important player for India.

Zaheer Khan

Zaheer reached 100 ODI wickets during India’s match against New Zealand in Centurion in 2002, in 65 matches, placing him among the quickest Indians to 100 ODI wickets. He took his 100th wicket by dismissing Brendon McCullum. Zaheer’s swing and control with the new ball regularly put early pressure on batters, making him one of India’s most reliable fast bowlers.

Ajit Agarkar

Ajit Agarkar is the seventh Indian bowler known to have reached 100 ODI wickets relatively quickly. He completed his 100th ODI wicket in 67 matches, achieving the milestone against Zimbabwe in ODIs (his 100th dismissal came during that series).
