La Liga made the request at CSD after the Spanish Football Federation’s Competition Committee reject the league body’s wish. La Liga previously requested the Committee to postpone the games between Sevilla and Barcelona, and Villareal and Alaves.

On 29 August, La Liga released a press statement announcing that they have made a request to the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) to postpone the two games from week’s list of fixtures as well as to modify kick-off times of other fixtures.

La Liga appealed at the Court of Arbitration for Sport against FIFA’s decision to prolong the South American qualifiers late into the week. However, the court rejected La Liga’s appeal. Meanwhile, the players will return to the club on Friday after playing three international matches during the break. However, many teams play league games on Saturday and Sunday. La Liga wanted to postpone the games as the players from South America won’t be available for the league games.

FC Barcelona will play their next game against Bayern Munich at home in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Meanwhile, Sevilla will play RB Leipzig on Tuesday in the European competition.
