FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2025: Hong Kong Scripts History With First Ever Qualification

The Hong Kong’s men’s basketball team scripted history by qualifying for the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup for the first time ever. 

The SAR progressed to the main draw in its eighth attempt, since the inception of the competition 12 years ago.

The men’s squad of Chan Wing-hei, Lam Chun-tat, Tsoi Lung-tak and Wong Ho-yin advanced into the main draw of the tournament by topping their qualifying group.

They beat Bahrain, Guam and Malaysia and suffered a one-point loss to Indonesia en route to becoming one of twelve teams making the group stage.

The team will play hosts Singapore on Saturday afternoon and Mongolia at night, as they look to advance further in the competition.

Meanwhile, the Hong Kong women’s team failed to qualify for the main draw after going down to China 17-19. It could also have been their first ever appearance in the main draw. 

The Indian men’s basketball team stormed into the main draw of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2025 in Singapore after beating the Philippines 21-11 in their final qualifying group B match on Thursday.

The victory made it a hat-trick of wins in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers for India 

Matches in the main draw games will be held on March 28 and the top two teams will progress to the knockout stage.

Meanwhile, the Indian women’s basketball team lost their first game on the second day of the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers.

They were beaten 17-13 by world No. 49 Chinese Taipei and also lost their first match in the tournament 17-6 against Hong Kong China, 78th in the 3×3 basketball rankings, on Wednesday.
